With determination in his heart and a vision in his mind, he brought together a group of like-minded individuals to embark on a transformative journey.

It all started within the confines of Eric's living room, where kindred spirits gathered to breathe life into the dream that would eventually become the African and American Advocacy Gathering (AAAG). It was here that our name was chosen, reflecting the shared aspirations and collective drive of those present.

Nurturing the flame of inspiration, the core team, including Eric, Kathi, David, and Eric, ventured into the heart of downtown Decatur. In the vibrant surroundings, we met with Derona, an unwavering ally who believed in our cause and offered invaluable guidance. Bound by a shared vision, we forged a bond that would fortify our resolve and propel us forward in our mission to create positive change.

A Refuge for Growth: Gathering at Refuge Coffee
The walls of Refuge Coffee became an incubation chamber to the birth of a movement in its earliest stages. Within its warm and inviting embrace, the initial group of four dedicated individuals began to form a close-knit community of twenty. As we gathered around the table, sipping on steaming cups of coffee, we exchanged ideas, shared stories, and laid the groundwork for projects that would align with the needs and aspirations of our community.
